Senescence

He had seen her at her worst,

He had seen her at her best,

He had touched the porcelain like skin,

He had run his hand through her rippling cascade of locks,

In their dreams, they had lived many lives together,

In their moments, he had seen her transformation

From a girlfriend to ‘girlfriend zilla.’

Union had not been a child’s play,

The bad hair days were just not extended to hair,

The mood swings lasted for days,

Anniversaries now were just not about a single message,

Love had to co-exist with responsibility.

From the prime of their life,

They had reached the end,

The wrinkled skin had been touched,

The frail figure had been adored,

But Senescence had not taken away

the beauty of those dark brown eyes.
